This week on Focus Atlanta we met Dr. Patrick Kerr. He introduced us to a piece of equipment that might help prevent neck injury for our athletes while playing football.

KERR SPORTS LLC. Founded by Dr. Patrick Kerr, an industry renowned neck expert, the company is launching it's first product for the 2012 football season; the KERR COLLAR (US Patent #: 8,370,968 B2). The KERR Collar has been in development for 10 years with extensive research and testing done at Virginia Tech Center for Injury Biomechanics and with Division 1 Football programs around the country. The goal of the Kerr Collar is to try and reduce some of the forces generated during collision. The lab results of the testing are on the website along with instructional videos about the Kerr Collar. This is the first product in a line of sports equipment which will be built through better biomechanical understanding.
